Its official. 408 was almost burned to the ground tonight. My Asian roommate was the guilty culprit. Mandy and I were on the couch watching the TV and Sarah was, well, lets just say 'detained' and we heard Esther screaming from the kitchen, "its on fire, AHHH, its on fire!!" She proceeded screaming and ran to the corner of the kitchen, opposite of the burning waxed paper which at one time held her fish. It was a sad sight, but we are all ok. We teamed together to put out the flames. Mandy got out an oven mitt, very calmly I might add, and opened the broiler, Esther dumped a cup of water on top of the broiler and I turned the oven off. No need to fear, we are all safe, I repeat, ALL safe, well, except the fish and the waxed paper.
Let me suggest some reading material:

WHOA!! I am glad to hear that you are all safe, and I think Sarah was probably in the BEST place ;) OK...here is for the next time (?) keep a jar of baking soda close to the cooking area, sprinkle that on the fire and it will put it out. Sometimes water actually makes a fire worse. (NO!! I have never had any experience in this area) I just KNOW these things!!
OK,OK...I caught a pan on fire one time, and didn't know what to do so I grabbed the pan (with huge flames) and ran DOWN the stairs and out the door I threw the pan into the snow it was out. DUMB move what if I fell down the stairs what was I thinking!! My mom calmly told me what to do the next time I did something like that a lid or baking soda. OOPS!
GLAD YOU ARE ALL OK!!
REALLY? no one else has anything to say about the close call? hmmm... very interesting!
ya, people are slacking...
In my defense...it was more like loudly saying "it's on fire" and I was calmly thinking of a solution in my head while paralyzed in the kitchen :). What would I do without all of my trusty roommates?! --The Asian one :)
Or...you can keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen! That's what we do. I only used it once when the stove malfunctioned and flames shot up (at the old house with a really old gas stove). Unfortunately, the gas continued coming into the house and I couldn't turn the knob to shut it off. CFD showed up, made me leave and aired out the house...and I got a new stove!
[Was she broiling with waxed paper? Bad idea. AND I got that book for the boy when he left home. Am I far-sighted or what?!]
OK Nikki, I want to see the cool hip earrings, unlike the ones that I make! ;) Take a picture on a solid background opposite of the color of the earrings. (Light/Dark)
And you need to be pretty close. That should work. (at least I hope it does!) So, is everyone still in shock and horror over the close call that you had? no one seems to be talking about it! BYE
Well, I could have been exaggerating a little bit ;) I made another pair yesterday that got complements on today at work! I tried the picture thing and it didn't look good. Oh well, I'll have to give it another shot.
try, try, and try again!! It will work, you will figure it out and get the hng of it! I KNOW you will...I really want to see them :)
Are you still recovering form your close call? Did your computer burn too? ;)
hey, I'm a busy woman...
I am on strike until there is a new post!! that means e-mail too! ;)
man, I didn't know what I was signing up for with this thing!
;)
HEY...it just occurred to me. Did Tim give you that book? Did he pass on one of his most treasured gifts to some coffee drinking piano player?
